Luke's Yankee Roundup: Clinching a Postseason Berth

With a 5-1 victory over the Toronto Blue Jays on Saturday night, the Yankees clinched a playoff spot. With the Red Sox leading the division the Yanks try to take over their spot. Can they win the World Series? I think they Can!

Since Bird got called up from his rehab assignment at SWB Railriders (August 26th) he is hitting 0.266 in 62 at bats with 4 home runs and 15 runs batted in and he slammed a three run bomb into right field in the 5th to give the Yanks a 2 run lead. "The Toddfather" hit another home run with the Yankees to provide some much needed insurance runs.

Before the game, there was a scare for the Yankees as Luis Severino (our wild card start) was hit in his left shoulder on a line drive by former Yankee Rob Refsnyder, but thankfully he was OK. They will look to push forward in the standings today as they put LHP, Jaime Garcia (who is 5-9 with a 4.19 ERA and has 125 strikeouts) on the mound. The Jays will counteract with RHP, Marcus Stroman (12-8 with a 3.01 ERA and 160 strikeouts).

It is worth mentioning that Brett Gardner is hitting 0.300 against Stroman with 2HR's and 5RBI's, so it would make sense to have him lead off.
