Cheltenham Festival 2019: JLT Novice Chase
I will try and keep this short and sweet. This intermediate distance novice chase looks a weak renewal and it really is hard to see beyond the front two in the market, Lostintranslation & Defi Du Seuil. They will re-oppose each other here, with Lostintranslation having won the Dipper Novices Chase from Defi Du Seuil at the track earlier this year but the latter horse reversing that form at Sandown.
What I would say is that the race at Cheltenham saw Lostintranslation get 3lb from Defi Du Seuil and off levels Philip Hobbs’ horse won quite convincingly in my opinion. They will be racing off level weights again here, and although Barry Geragthy will have to deliver Defi Du Seuil at the perfect time I expect him to win a shade cosily.
Of the other horses in the market – Real Steel doesn’t jump well enough to win a Grade 1. Glen Forsa & Kalashnikov seem Arkle bound, Kildistart is coming from a handicap into a Grade 1 so you would have to think he doesn’t have the class to beat the market leaders. Topofthegame and Delta Work will go for the RSA. Drovers Lane for Rebecca Curtis could probably sneak a place here after this course win last time out and is still available at 20/1 with the Non-Runner No Bet concession.
Although this is probably due to the horse more being likely to head to the RSA. I would back Defi Du Seuil Non-Runner No Bet here too as he is still in the Arkle, but this race has always been the plan. With the front two being much the best I would say a reverse forecast is fairly safe wager too.
Recommendations – Defi Du Seuil – 3/1 & Defi Du Seuil / Lostintranslation reverse forecast
