Cheltenham Festival 2019: Champion Chase Preview
One of the loudest cheers from the crowd throughout the week will come if Altior defends his Champion Chase crown. Unbeaten over hurdles and fences beating top quality animals throughout his career, he is impossible to oppose here. I would expect Min to be there with him at the last but Altior relishes the test of the hill and, if last year’s renewal was anything to go by, the same result will occur. If he does hit his customary flat spot it would be worth backing him in running, if the price is above evens, but you are relying on a lot of variables happening for that situation to materialise. Personally, I think Min should run in the Champion Hurdle; he has beaten Buveur D’Air over that course and distance and is a very slick jumper. Unfortunately, we won’t get to see that happen and another second place in this race seems to await him. Altior has been flawless since his maiden hurdle win so just sit back and enjoy Altior hopefully cement himself as an all-time great, with a fourth win at the Cheltenham Festival. If you were to have a bet then a straight forecast with Min would be my choice as Min is far better than any horse in the race, bar Altior.
