Have a Flutter with Fordy: Rory's Racing Preview 12/08/17
Saturday sees the return of the Shergar Cup at Ascot and whilst I am personally not its biggest fan I do feel there could be some good betting value. Away from the Berkshire course Newmarket holds a card.
Versatile Kapstadt looks to have an exceptional chance in Ascot 2:15
A useful player over both hurdles and on the level, Kapstadt would be a fantastic horse to own. He could record one of the biggest wins in his career on Saturday in the Shergar Cup. He has been campaigned over both hurdles and on the flat recently and ran respectfully in both disciplines.
Having an ability over jumps could certainly help because he has experience over longer trips and on the soft going which is forecast. Last time out on the flat he ran a respectable 7th in the Old Newton Cup and was even dropped one pound in the handicap. That could be useful in such a competitive handicap.
The form of that race has worked out well with the second and fourth going on to finish first and second in a race at Glorious Goodwood. There are obviously multiple dangers in this race but at 8/1 with most bookies I am happy with the price.
Dance Diva set to get back to winning ways at Newmarket
The fillies only 3:40 at Newmarket sees plenty of exciting two-year-olds face off. I am backing Dance Diva at 4/1 to get back to winning ways. She lost her unbeaten record at Ascot last time out but I believe that was to one of the best two-year-old fillies in the country. I am backing her to get back to winning ways on Saturday.
She has now had four starts in her career which makes her very experienced for this stage of her career. That experience could come in useful against the once raced favourite Poetic Charm. Dance Diva makes the step up to seven furlongs on Saturday and that could bring about some more improvement for trainer Richard Fahey.
Ascot 2:15 Kapstadt win at 8/1
Newmarket 3:40 Dance Diva win at 4/1
